Itton Traffic Calming Consultation
Added on 01 March 2026
We need your views
When: Tuesday 10th March, 7:00PM
Where: Itton Village Hall
What: Exploring detailed plans for traffic calming measures
In late January 2026 Devauden Community Council (DCC) co-ordinated a ‘walk-and-talk’ at Itton with residents and representation from Monmouthshire County Council (MCC) Highways department. We were able to discuss our concerns and explore potential solutions. The visit was timed to coincide with peak afternoon traffic, so we could form a qualitative impression of driver behaviour within the 20MPH limit. It’s fair to say we witnessed a wide spread of driving patterns — including some examples that were a clear concern to residents and DCC.
We’ve now progressed to a set of measures designed to make lower speeds a natural choice for drivers by reinforcing the road’s village character, as well as through active and passive road signs. These proposals are:
- Designed in detail
- Draw on tried and tested measures implemented elsewhere in the county
- Fully fundable from the budget year ending April 2026
- Actionable from early spring 2026
We need your feedback, suggestions ,and ultimately your agreement so that we can secure the funding and finalise the plans.
