Itton Road Safety - Progress

Added on 10 April 2026

At the Itton road safety consultation in early March we reached agreement with residents on a number of traffic calming measures.

Work to implement those measures will begin quite soon and be completed in stages, depending on weather conditions, and the availability of contractors and technology.

The first stage of work will be the renewal of existing road marking, and the addition of new ones, with the aim of visually narrowing the road through Itton, highlighting speed limits, and re-emphasising bus stops.

Please note that road centre line markings and cats eyes will not be removed in this first phase, and there will be further consultation with residents ahead of any decisions on this measure.

The exact timing of the work is the responsibility of the contractor, based on variables such as weather which are beyond the control of the community and county councils. The roadworks will be under traffic light control — placement of traffic lights and signage will be your indication that work is about to begin.

You can view the full set of measures — agreed and still to be agreed — here.
